CR
Quail, Duck, Dove, Wild Boar, Deer, and Turkey hunting and More...

NOTICE... THE DROUGHT IS OVER and we are HAVING the best Bob White Year since at least 1994!!!
Unbelievable but true, our drought seems to have finally ended and we have more birds now as of August 1st we are seeing new hatched and birds of up to 12 weeks old already. The bird count looks to be stronger already than we've seen even in November for the last eight years!!! Consequently the 03/04 season is expected to be the best quail year of my lifetime so we anticipate being fully booked by November so to all my old friends get out your calendars and give us an email soon. To all our new friends, it's time to get acquainted so do the same!
At WildRose we provide Guided hunts for Quail, Duck, Dove, Goose, Wild Boar, Wild Turkey and more with a personal touch.
We are not the typical type of hunting outfit you will find in South Texas. No banging all over pastures chasing runaway dogs from jeeps and trucks. For our upland (quail hunts) hunts we provide comfortable modern four door, four wheel drive one ton trucks to get us from place to place and hunt exclusively behind our World Class German Shorthaired Pointing dogs.
NOTE!! Unlike most Outfitters we understand that many of our clients have dogs of their own and love to work behind them, so you are encouraged to bring your own dogs as well to hunt along with ours.
Our Water fowling primarily consists of "jump shooting" over small ponds, or "tanks" as they are called in Texas usually under one acre in size. We also hunt them from blinds camouflaged in grain fields. Each method provides excellent shooting opportunities for over 25 different species of Duck.

Our season opens annually in September for dove and Teal, and early November for Quail, Deer, and Turkey and runs through the end of February. There is no closed season on wild boar, and we hunt them year round.
I have hunted this area for nearly thirty years and it consistently produces good bird crops and outstanding hunting opportunities for all of these species. For specific season and License information visit the Texas parks and Wildlife Services site by clicking on the following link TP&W .
Location
The operation is centered in the Baylor and Throckmorton counties in West Texas, a comfortable two and a half to three hour drive from DFW International Airport, and we have facilities for private aircraft capable of even accommodating the small corporate jets, with runways of four thousand plus feet locally as well.
We have access to ranches in seven different counties, covering an area from Abilene, to Childress, to Jacksboro, to Wichita Falls giving us flexibility and near endless opportunity in spite of the unpredictability's of weather, or game movements and population shifts.
This area of West Texas has for years and continues the be the heart of Bobwhite Quail country in the state, and over the last ten years while Bobwhite Quail populations have indeed seen broad swings we have managed well and even on our worst years have averaged over ten Coveys of Bobwhite Quail per hunt day.
Along with Bobwhite Quail hunting we offer hunts for Mourning Dove, Duck (seeing as many as 17 different species over the course of a day) including; Mallard, Pintail, Canvasback, Gadwall, Ring neck, Blue Bill, Golden Eye, Bufflehead, Teal (all three species), Red head, Widgeon, Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, Shoveler, Spoonbills, et. al... even the odd Wood duck.
For an Idea of what to expect from a typical mixed bag hunt we begin the day with a hearty breakfast, we then begin with blind hunting for ducks at dawn, then hunting quail from around eight thirty until noon. After breaking for lunch, and often a bit of a nap to be followed by jump shooting for ducks until around two to three pm. Our hunting day concludes with a full slate of quail hunting until sundown.

We also offer hunting for Wild Boar, Rio Grand Wild Turkey, Trophy Wild Boar and White Tailed and Mule Deer, along with Bobcat and Coyote predator hunts on request.

Rates
Rates range from sixty dollars per gun, per day, for dove hunting (includes only hunt) to four hundred twenty five dollars per gun, per day for quail and combination quail and migratory bird hunts; this includes meals, lodging, guides etc... . This rate is based on a three gun group but we have no set minimum and will accommodate up to four shooters per group. For more than one group we need only a few weeks notice to be sure that we have all the accommodations and guides lined up but can and have arranged hunts for parties of up to 14.
Rates for Wild Boar, White Tailed Deer, and Wild Turkey hunts vary based upon the type of hunt and Trophy Quality.
You may contact us year round for more information or reservations via, phone, mail, or Email, but seasons book quickly so don't delay!!!!!
